Look, Listen and Have Fun

Who misses those weekends where it seemed you got to visit so many different parts of the country at various tournaments or those Gasshukus in far off places where you made lasting friendships and lumpy porridge for breakfast? The ones where you trained all weekend so that Mondays were still taken up with that adrenalin rush and then there was Tuesday....

Well last weekend was the inaugural Winter Youth Gasshuku in the beautiful clean alpine air of Turangi and one of those camps. A great turnout for the start of hopefully many camps to come.

Students from 6 years to 18 years merged on Turangi from all over the North Island to soak up the fantastic camp atmosphere and Goju camaraderie remembered by the "more senior" members who attended the weekend. Not to mention learn a wide variety of Goju Ryu Karate, from a number of dedicated and inspiring Instructors, in particular Sensei Rajesh Ravji, Sensei Steve Riley and Sensei Binh Nguyen.

Focus was on the youth of Goju so a lot of fun was had throughout the many sessions - enough to have anyone training and focused to the last. A successful balance to hopefully motivate younger students to keep training hard and inspire some future Goju Ryu leaders.

Altogether a fantastic weekend enjoyed by all who attended.
