Brief Hisoty of Club

Established 1979 and run by Dennis Flockton until 1985 when Tony Clarke took over.

Main Instructor

Tony Clarke Yondan (4th Dan)

Tony has trained for 25 years in Goju Ryu karate and it was his training with Nigel Thomas in 1984 which set him on a long path of overseas experiences including attending the gasshuku in South Africa in 1985, 6 months training with Terauchi Sensei in Japan 1988, training with Higaonna Sensei in USA in 1989, further training with Terauchi Sensei in 1989 and 1992, and attending the 2003 Budosai in Okinawa. Tony attained his Shodan in 1988 under Higaonna Sensei, his Nidan in 1992 in Dunedin under Dennis May, his Sandan in 2003 under Terry Hill, and his Yondan in 2007 at the Oceania Gasshuku in Wellington under Higaonna Sensei.
